Visit Live Oak Advisory Board
About
The Visit Live Oak Advisory Board is charged with evaluating how the event fits with the laws or use for HOT Funds as directed by Texas Tax Code, and the organizations’ ability to draw tourism from outside of the area. Individual organizations’ applications are reviewed by the Visit Live Oak Advisory Board and recommendations are then presented to council for final approval.
Under Texas state law, the City of Live Oak collects a 7% Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) from hotels, motels, and other lodging facilities. Under state law, revenue from the municipal hotel occupancy tax may be used only to promote tourism and convention and hotel industry.
Events conducted by your organization may qualify for a grant of HOT Funds if your event or events promote tourism and the convention and hotel industry. Each year, Live Oak City Council approves an amount of HOT Funds to be allocated to outside agencies for this purpose.
