The Live Oak Fire Department is actively recruiting people that would love a career in the fire service. We have an aggressive training program to include training around the United States. Starting pay for a basic firefighter straight out of the academy is $50,079. If you come with experience, the salary could be as high as $59,819. We have a 7-firefighter shift, double engine company station and 48/96-hour tours with extra hours opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

  • A basic firefighter certification from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP)
  • A basic Emergency Medical Technician certification from the Department of State Health Services (DSHS)
  • A valid Texas Class B driver’s license or obtain license within six (6) months of hire

Hiring Process

  • Written Ergometrics test ergometrics.org (Applicants must have a 70% or better to move to the next phase)
  • Candidate Physical Agility Test (PAT). (Candidate must pass the PAT to move to the next phase)

  • Annual Step Increases
  • Starting Pay Dependent on Qualifications & Years of Service
  • Certification Pay Up to $150.00 Per Month
  • Uniform Cleaning Allowance $900.00 Per Year
